    Mike Rowse
    Chairman

     

    He is co-founder and Chairman of Barbican Capital. He became the first Director of the Financial Secretary's Office of Hong Kong SAR from 1997 - 2000, and from 1999 - 2000 was appointed concurrently as the first Commissioner for Tourism. In those twin capacities, he was the chief negotiator with the Walt Disney Company, leading to the success of Hong Kong Disneyland.

     

    In July 2000, Mike set up Invest HK, the investment bureau under Hong Kong SAR Government, and was its first Director-General till to his retirement in December 2008. The agency won several awards during his tenure and was recognized as the best investment promotion agency in Asia.

     

    Since his retirement from the government, Mike has been busy consulting multinationals in Hong Kong. He is also commentator on political issues for regular newspaper columns, and co-host of a radio show.

    Lisa Tian
    CEO

     

    Lisa Tian is co-founder and CEO of Barbican Capital. She has over 20-year capital market experience with expertise in cross- border M&As; and PE investment.

     

    Lisa was Managing Director and Beijing Chief Representative of Morgan Stanley Hua Xin from 2010 to 2015. She led IBD and GCM teams and completed many classic deals, including Yu Garden corporate bonds, Beijing Bank PIPE, Global sales of Nanyang Engine, the sale of DEG's stake in Kingenta to Younger Group, Mobile Eye's global pre IPO fund raising, and Lenovo's acquisition of United Insurance, etc. She started her investment banking career in 2000 with CICC, the first Morgan Stanley JV in China, working with Dr. Xiaonian Xu as an analyst. Lisa also worked as Managing Partner in Everpine Capital and as a Partner in Vermilion Partners (now merged with Natixis, a subsidiary of Group BPCE). She has executed a series of cross-border deals including RBS, Barclays, American Express, Aviva, Diageo and successfully facilitated China market entry of these multinational companies through direct investment. Previously, she was also a member on the McKinsey Working Committee of Pingan Group.

     

    Lisa holds a MSc in Money and Banking from Mid-South University of Economics and Law, a BSc in Asset Management from Shanghai University of Finance and Economics, and also completed the LDP of United States Military Academy West Point. She is proficient in Mandarin and English.

    Kamal Tayara
    Partner

     

    He is vigorously engaged in global investment banking and venture capital activity. He is founder of KCP Capital, a Dubai-based advisory firm.

     

    Kamal is a member of the board of various technology start ups in the GCC and North America. He has been engaged in the investment banking and financial transactions arena in the Middle East, Russia, Africa and other markets for a long as 20 years.

     

    Kamal worked for top tier investment banks such as Merrill Lynch and Salomon Smith Barney from 1997 to 2003.

     

    He holds Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from the American University of Beirut (magna cum laude) and an MBA from INSEAD in Fontainebleau, France. Kamal is fluent in Arabic, English, French and Spanish.

    Victor Rowse
    Partner

     

    He is a partner in Barbican Capital. He is an Associate Chartered Accountant (2004) with 20 years experience in financial services industry.

     

    Victor started his career with KPMG in London 2000-2004 as a Manager on Financial Advisory Dept. Advised restructuring of Teesside Power Limited on banking syndicate with combined exposure of US$0.8bn on restructuring options in the aftermath of Enron, previous owners of this combined cycle gas turbine power station. Also advised restructuring of Swissair AG on its major asset disposal. Victor moved to China in 2005 and worked with Vermilon Partners as a Director in Shanghai office 2006- 2011.Transactions managed including sale of AsPacific Cargo to ND, a listed European logistics group and acquisition of Guolian Securities investment banking business by Royal Bank of Scotland and establishment of a new JV investment bank , etc.. Victor also invests in fitness industry and founded Prime Fitness, a high end personal training studio franchise in Beijing and Shanghai.

     

    Victor graduated from University of Oxford and holds Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Philosophy, Politics and Economics (PPE).He also attended two years Mandarin Chinese training in Beijing Language & Culture University.

    Edmund Wang
    Partner

     

    Edmund is Managing Director of Barbican Capital. He has more than 15-year investment banking and PE experience, plus 10-year of corporate finance and business strategy development experience. His primary focus covers industries of consumer goods, healthcare and education.

     

    Prior to joining Barbican he was a co-founder of IntelValley Assets Management which is specialized on VC and M&A; in the industries of healthcare, consumer goods and TMT.

     

    Before that Edmund worked as Director in Vermilion Partners, focused on cross border M&A; for 10-year, 2005 to 2015. Thereof he led and co- led a number of deals with transaction value over USD 1bn for prominent international companies, including Diageo, MacDonald, GSK, CSL, Bupa, Smiths Medical, Kaplan, among others. Prior to 2005 he worked in the Strategy Development, Huatai Insurance Group, from 2001 to 2003, and as CFO of Monsanto from 1999 to 2001. Edmund started his career as financial analyst in IBM (China) in 1995.

     

    Edmund holds a BSc of Business Management and a MSc of Corporate Finance from China Agricultural University and a PhD of Investment from Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. He was also a chartered accountant of China (CPA). He speaks Mandarin and English.

    Robert Lu
    Partner

     

    Robert is a partner at Barbican Capital. He has more

    than 20 years of experience in private equity investments, mergers and acquisitions, corporate advisory and entrepreneurship. Robert holds a Master's degree in Economics from the Graduate School of the People's Bank of China and an MBA from the University

    of Maryland.

     

    He is also a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) holder. He has worked for the People's Bank of China Shenzhen Branch, Vermilion Partners, Guotai Junan Securities and private equity investment funds, and has been involved in entrepreneurship, and has extensive experience in finance, securities, advisory, M&A and investment.
